How does Botox | Dysport work?Â
Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults – to help them look visibly smoother.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that improves the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines, between the brow lines, round the eye lines and crow’s feet in adults.
Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, the formula for Dysport® consists of Botulinum Toxin Type A. Injected into targeted areas, Dysport® can help reduce the appearance of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles that cause them.
Popular treatment areas include:
What you should expect after your Botox or Dysport Treatment:
Real noticeable results! Results may take up to 14 days to fully appear and can last up to 4 months. Botox is particularly effective when used as a preventative treatment so starting Botox® at a younger age will effectively reduce signs of aging as you grow older.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is not a permanent treatment. If you discontinue treatment the moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines will gradually return.
How much Botox Will I Need?
Each person’s anatomy is different and it is up to your medical provider to determine the proper dosing to give you the results that you are looking for. Botox stops specific muscle movement to eliminate lines, wrinkles, and creases caused by muscle contraction. Â Some people have much stronger facial muscles than others and require more Neurotoxin to achieve optimal results. This dosage chart gives a rough estimate of dosage for popular treatment areas.
Forehead Lines: 10-30 Units
Vertical Lip Lines: 2-7 Units
Dimpled Chin: 2-6 Units
Smile Lift: 3-6 Units
Masseter Reduction: 30-40 Units
Crow’s Feet: 5-15 Units
Frown Lines: 20-30 Units
Bunny or Nasalis Lines: 5-10 Units
Eyebrow Lift: 2-5 Units
Treatment of Hyperhidrosis with Botox (Excessive Sweating)
STOP Excessive sweating with Botox treatments!
Hyperhidrosis (hi-pur-hi-DROE-sis) is abnormally excessive sweating that’s not necessarily related to heat or exercise. You may sweat so much that it soaks through your clothes or drips off your hands. Besides disrupting normal daily activities, this type of heavy sweating can cause social anxiety and embarrassment. Botox injections use botulinum toxin to block the nerve signals responsible for sweating, stopping the sweat glands from producing too much sweat!
Treatment of TMJ | Hypertrophic Masseters
Overactive or imbalanced temporomandibular joints in the jaw can cause a disorder known as TMJ. Side effects of TMJ can include teeth grinding, headaches, pain, and jaw clicking or popping. The muscles responsible for these overactive movements are known as the Masseter and Temporalis. Botox injections can weaken these muscles providing relief directly at the source reducing the unconscious tendency to clench and grind your teeth. Typical dosing for TMJ is 20-40 units but the dosage can vary depending on the size and strength of your muscles.
